Todd, who are some players they should target?

Do they buy out Brouwer?

I'll definitely be looking at some targets in the coming weeks. I'd buy out Brouwer but I have a feeling they won't.

Brouwer actually played fine on the 4th line. He just cant see power play time, limit PK time & for the love of anything right, do not have him take key faceoffs at critical times of the game. If he struggles with 4th line duties this year I see the Flames waiving him & sending him to Stockton. Buyout next year.

Just seems like such a waste of a spot. A lot of other players that could fill it and maybe bring a little more jump to the fourth line.

With all the UFA/RFAs I’ve seen this year, I cannot say that Beagle had ever crossed my mind.

I forgot he even existed to be honest!

Yeah you arent wrong if you keep it strictly to a hockey stand point, but 4.5mill dictates that Brouwer will be given more opportunity & get the benefit of a push against a young that can be sent down to the AHL. I dont condon that thinking but economic reality is a reality in the NHL.

Yeah we still have Bouma´s and Ryan Murphy´s contracts on the books next year!!!! Then I imagine we can add Brouwers.

Anyways about 7 mil in dead weight coming off the books. Stajan, Versteeg, Bunkowski, Glass, Stewart, Mason Raymond this year

Looking at the UFA crop, BT is going to have to look to make some trades to help find some secondary scoring.

Bt hasn't looked great at either. Let's hope it's a group discussion before any moves are made.

I totally agree Troy is a decent 4th liner, just that flicking Glughead thought he was more than that. Some on here even defending the decision to leave him out for a draw in our own end against one of the best face off men in the league. Countless chances on the powerplay.....that's a whole other blog!

They’ll probably just trade a draft pick for him instead

Gaud mony vet ufa (kane/Neal/nash etc)
Tkachuk backs ho-sang
Frolik janko kapanen
Ferland Shore brouwer

Gio Hamilton
Brodie Andersson
Kulak Stone

Smith
Rittich

Would like if they bought out brouwer and signed Reaves or a kid in the system for 4th line

The difference between the guys you listed and Beagle is Beagle is a bottom six guy. Nothing more nothing less. Those other guys were suppose to be guys that could play top 6 and add offense.

If you can bring Beagle in on a decent 2 year deal it's a smart move. Paying him 4mil a year x 5 years isn't

Ho Sang is a gamble. Have not followed his progression but not sure he would be ready for 2nd line minutes. Did we give yo Bennett to get him?

Ya it fills a need on the right side and gives 2 young men a fresh look. Not great asset management with Sam being a 4th overall and ho-sang 28th, but still not hall for Larsson bad jokes

I agree

The 3rd and 4th lines should be younger, low cost players. Preferably players coming up through the Flames farm systems. The Flames probably had the highest paid lousiest 3rd & 4th line players in the NHL

From what I saw Shore was a serviceable 4th line centre, low cost, instead of the Brower like AAV & term that the Flames wished they could take back
